When your stomach is healthy and the food is digested properly, your body tends to work more effectively and efficiently. At times, the stomach is unable to digest food properly which may result in indigestion, weight gain, constipation and gas etc. In order to avoid indigestion of food; here are some best home remedies that will help in improving digestion problems to a great extent.

Chew food properly:

This habit can lead to indigestion and discomfort because digestion enzymes are not able to decompose large particles of food into smaller particles hence they cannot pass through the intestine. In order to improve digestion, it is very important to chew food properly.

Drink water before meal:

Drinking water before having food leads to quick and easy digestion of food. It aids in breaking the food particles into smaller and smaller particles so that they can easily pass through the small intestine and absorbs all the nutrients. But as doctors suggest, try to avoid water during meal as it may add to the severity of digestion problems.

Ginger is considered to be the “universal remedy” due to its countless benefits for the body. Ginger in really helpful in digestion of food and eliminating digestive discomfort after eating. It speeds up the movement of the food from the stomach to the small intestine.

Recipe:  add one teaspoon of chopped or sliced fresh ginger to a cup of hot water and boil it for a minute.

Drink lemon/apple cider vinegar water:


To increase the acidity of stomach temporarily, drink a small amount of fresh lemon juice or apple vinegar added to a lukewarm water before having the meal. If you are using lemon, squeeze half a lemon in 8 oz. of water. For apple cider vinegar, add 1 tablespoon in 8 oz. of water.

Use yogurt:


Yogurt is a very helpful in digestion of food because it contains a large amount of “good bacteria” that plays the key role in digestion and prevents stomach problems like diarrhea, indigestion and constipation. Have fresh yogurt twice a day and you will experience the benefits within weeks.
