Microwave oven has gained immense popularity in our homes due to its convenience of reheating food products. Microwave oven has become a necessary kitchen appliance in the recent years. Apart from reheating foods, modern microwave ovens have the ability to cook different types of frozen foods like meat and fish. But apart from enormous convenience, microwave oven is a really dangerous option to cook and reheat food. Here’s why microwave oven is a serious threat to your health.
Radiation emitted by microwave oven is classified as non-ionizing radiation. Just like sun rays containing non-ionizing radiation can damage your eyes and skin: Similarly, microwave’s non-ionizing rays can cause changes in the organic properties of food. When you use microwave for reheating or cooking food, you are exposing your food to the non-ionizing radiations of microwave.
The effects of microwave radiations can be quite critical for babies, children and pregnant ladies. Excessive exposure to microwave radiation is called microwave sickness. According to Robert O. Becker i.e. Author of “The Body Electric” microwave sickness can cause:

Although there hasn’t been a lot of research and finding on the subject but all findings agree that the nutrition level of food is greatly reduced by reheating or cooking in microwave oven. A Japanese study done by Watanabe revealed that 6 minutes of microwave heating turn 30-40% of milk into dead form.
A Swiss nutrition scientist Hans Hertel conducted tests on Microwave reheating and cooking to determine its side effects of human physiology. Hans Hertel came up with the conclusion that reheating or cooking in microwave leads to food degeneration which can cause change in blood resulting in health problems like high cholesterol level, decreased red blood cells and decreased hemoglobin.
