Fizzy drinks are one of the most consumed beverages throughout the world, second only to water. Some people even accept that they drink more soda drinks than water each day, or no water at all. And probably many of regular soda drinkers know that soft drinks are injurious to health. But have you ever thought that what happens inside your body with every sip of soda drink? Have you ever tried pondering upon the extent to which drinking cold drinks beverages harms your body?  Though, giving up soft drinks is a tough row to hoe, but it is one of the best things you can do to yourself.

First of all, know that, there are no such components in soft drinks which prove to be nutritionally beneficial. Soft drinks often contain filtered water and refined sugars but they are not nutritionally beneficial.

Caffeine is a diuretic which causes an increase in urine production. High concentration of sugar causes water to flow out as our kidneys try to discharge excess sugar out of the blood. Hence, drinking more caffeinated drinks in order to quench thirst makes you even thirstier.

Weakened Bones and Risk of Osteoporosis

Researches made in recent years show the following health risks associated with soda drinking:

  • Increased risk of asthma and lung disease
  • Caffeinated and artificially sweetened soft drinks may increase the risk of early menarche which is a risk factor of many other diseases
  • Increase in levels of uric acid
  • Increased risk of developing hypertension
  • Many mental health problems
